Pilot & Owner
Denis Vyatkin
Denis owns the school and flies as its lead pilot and senior flight instructor, overseeing the whole ladder taught here — private pilot, commercial, instrument, the CFI and CFII instructor certificates, and multi-engine training. The person who sets your syllabus is the person flying its later stages with you.
Owner, Lead Pilot, Senior Instructor
Three roles, and at a two-person school they are not separable.
Denis owns the business, flies as its lead pilot, and teaches as its senior flight instructor. That is why the training plan and the flying agree with each other: nobody is handing a syllabus to somebody else to fly.
The oversight covers Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument, CFI, CFII and multi-engine training — between them, every certificate and rating the school teaches.
Both instructorsWhat Denis Teaches
The advanced end of the ladder, and the certificates people fly professionally with.
Commercial pilot
The certificate that makes flying a job rather than a licence, flown to the standard an examiner will hold you to.
Commercial pilot trainingInstrument rating
Flown in the aircraft, in real weather and real Sacramento Valley airspace.
Instrument ratingCFI and CFII
The instructor certificates — taught by somebody who runs a school on them, not only holds them.
CFI and CFII trainingMulti-engine
Flown in the school's Piper PA-44 Seminole, for the multi-engine rating and the MEI.
The fleetHow Denis Runs A Lesson
Fly often, brief properly, and never leave a lesson without knowing what the next one is.
That is the whole method, and each part of it is doing work. Flying often is what keeps a motor skill from decaying between repetitions. Briefing properly is what makes an hour in the air worth what it costs. And leaving a lesson knowing what the next one is means you arrive at the aircraft ready rather than waiting to be told.
