There are large academies in the Sacramento area, and for some people they are the right answer. It is worth knowing the difference before you choose, because it is not mainly about price.
A large academy runs an approved course to a fixed structure, often full time, frequently with a fleet and a queue. It suits somebody changing career who wants to fly every day and be finished quickly, and it usually asks for money up front.
We are a Part 61 school with two instructors and our own aircraft. Training is built around your week rather than a course outline, you pay by the hour, and you fly with the same instructor from the first lesson to the checkride instead of whoever is free that morning. That suits somebody fitting flying around a job, and it is slower for somebody who wants to be a professional pilot by next spring.
If the second description is you, we will say so rather than take the booking.
