Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of this website and anything you book with us through it. By using the site, you agree to them. If you’re booking or buying for someone else — a gift, a flight for a family member — these terms apply to them too, and it’s on you to pass them along.

Who we are

DIVA Flight School Sacramento is a Part 61 flight school based at Sacramento McClellan Airport.

3028 Peacekeeper Way, McClellan Park, CA 95652

(916) 907-5812 · info@sacramentoflight.com

Office hours: Mon–Fri 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Sat–Sun 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM · Flying daily 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

This site is operated by DIVA Flight School Sacramento LLC, a California limited liability company.

Some instruction is delivered by an independent contract instructor. That instructor teaches on the school’s aircraft, under the school’s syllabus, rules and insurance, and your agreement is with the school.

We are not a government agency, and we’re not affiliated with the Federal Aviation Administration. Federal rules about pilot certification come from the FAA, not from us.

What this site provides

On this site you can:

  • read about our flight training, discovery flights, pricing, and location,
  • send us a request through the form on the home page so we can contact you,
  • find the phone number and email address to reach us directly.

There is no shop on this site: nothing is bought here, and there is no basket, no account and no checkout. Flights, training and gift certificates are agreed with us by phone or email, and we then send you a secure payment link for the amount we have agreed.

Information on the site — prices, program descriptions, timelines — is here to help you plan. We keep it current, but we don’t warrant that every page is complete or free of errors, and we may change prices and offerings. The price that applies is the one we confirm to you in writing. If you spot something wrong on the site, tell us at info@sacramentoflight.com and we’ll fix it.

Booking and payment

Flight hours, discovery flights and gift certificates are arranged with us directly, by phone or email. Payment is then taken through a secure link we send you, handled by an outside payment provider — see our Privacy Policy for how that works.

How a booking is made. For a discovery flight you ask us for a date, we hold the slot provisionally after checking the aircraft, the instructor and the forecast, and we then send a secure payment link which is valid for 24 hours. A booking is confirmed only when we say so in writing.

After payment you receive confirmation by email, together with these terms. We ask for your preferred dates, the number of guests and each guest’s weight, and we confirm the agreed date, time, address and arrival instructions by email and text.

A gift certificate is paid for first and carries no date; the recipient arranges that with us later. Sending the form on this site is a request to be contacted — it does not reserve a date on its own.

Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, plus ACH bank transfer, Zelle and cash. We do not accept personal cheques or cryptocurrency and we do not add a card surcharge.

Scheduling, weather, and rescheduling

Flights depend on weather, aircraft availability and instructor availability.

Weather decisions are made by the instructor acting as pilot in command — not by you, and not by an automated forecast. That decision can sometimes only be made on the morning of the flight.

If we cancel — for weather, instructor illness, maintenance or any other operational reason — you choose a free reschedule or a full refund, and you get priority on the next available slots. A cancellation by us does not count towards your reschedule allowance. Beyond the refund there is no automatic monetary compensation.

To change your own booking, call (916) 907-5812, text us, or write to info@sacramentoflight.com as early as you can. A reschedule takes effect only once we have replied to confirm it.

Cancellation and refunds

SituationWhat happens
You cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more before the start timeFree. You choose a full refund to the original payment method, or a new date.
Rescheduling allowanceUp to two reschedules per purchase. After the second, the new date must fall within 90 days.
You cancel less than 24 hours before, do not arrive, or arrive more than 20 minutes late so the programme cannot be flown safelyTreated as a no-show: we retain 50% of the reserved time on the first occasion and up to 100% after that.
Documented emergency or illnessConsidered individually; the no-show charge is not applied.
We cancel (weather, instructor illness, maintenance)Free reschedule or a full refund, plus priority on the next slots. Does not count towards your two reschedules.
Services already deliveredNot refundable.
Prepaid training balanceIntended to be used within 12 months. The balance is held in dollars and does not lock in a previous hourly rate if rates change.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and normally arrive within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

To cancel or reschedule, call (916) 907-5812, text, or write to info@sacramentoflight.com. A change takes effect only once we confirm it.

Gift certificates

Gift certificates are bought from us directly and can be used for the service they name. The recipient redeems the code by calling (916) 907-5812 or writing to info@sacramentoflight.com; a date is confirmed only in writing by us.

  • Delivery: a named PDF sent by email within one business day of payment, after a manual check of the name and message. A printed card can be collected from the office free of charge; we do not post certificates. By default the certificate goes to the purchaser; you may instead choose delivery to the recipient on a chosen date, in which case the price is not shown in their email.
  • Value: we do not reduce the value of a certificate over time and we charge no inactivity or dormancy fee.
  • Expiration and redemption: governed by applicable California law; contact us for the current written policy.
  • Transferable: yes — once, free of charge, to another person, after we verify the purchase with the buyer. The new recipient must still meet the age, identification and weight-and-balance requirements.
  • Refundable: the purchaser may request a refund of an unused certificate within seven calendar days of purchase. Once a flight is booked, the cancellation rules above apply.

Any rights you have under mandatory consumer law take precedence over the above.

Training is subject to FAA requirements

Flight training in the United States is governed by federal rules. We teach; the FAA sets the requirements and issues the certificates. Depending on what you’re working toward, that can include:

  • a student pilot certificate and, for most training, an FAA medical certificate issued by an FAA-designated physician,
  • minimum flight experience and knowledge requirements before a checkride — the final practical test with an FAA examiner,
  • English language proficiency,
  • for students who aren’t US citizens or permanent residents, a security review by the Transportation Security Administration before flight training can begin.

We’ll explain what applies to you, but meeting these requirements is between you and the federal agencies. We can’t waive them, speed them up, or guarantee that you’ll qualify.

Safety and your responsibilities

Aviation is regulated and taken seriously, and part of that is on you. When you fly with us, you agree to:

  • follow the instructions of your flight instructor and airport staff at all times,
  • give us accurate information about yourself, including anything that could affect the safety of the flight,
  • not fly under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any medication that impairs you,
  • arrive on time and follow the airport access rules we give you,
  • respect the weight and seating limits of the aircraft, which we’ll confirm before your flight.

The instructor in command decides whether a flight goes, continues, or ends early. That decision is always final, and it’s always about safety.

Identification. Anyone aged 18 or over must present a valid government-issued photo ID before being escorted into the controlled area. For a minor we accept a school ID or passport together with the accompanying adult’s ID and a signed consent form.

Minors. The minimum age for a discovery flight is 12. Anyone under 18 flies only with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must be present at check-in and for the briefing. For anyone under 16 that adult must remain at the airfield for the duration of the flight.

Weight and loading. You must give us accurate weights for everyone flying. Published guidelines — approximately 250 lb per guest and 450 lb for a group, with about 10 lb of secured baggage in total — are planning figures, not a guarantee of carriage. The pilot in command makes the final decision after a weight-and-balance calculation, and may decline to carry a passenger on that basis.

Cameras. Handheld phones and small action cameras are permitted after a briefing. Suction mounts, rigid mounts, externally mounted cameras and anything that could interfere with the controls require written approval from the owner and the pilot in command.

No guarantee of outcomes

We can’t and don’t guarantee that you’ll earn a certificate or rating, how long your training will take, or what it will cost in total. Those depend on how often you fly, how quickly you progress, weather, aircraft availability, and FAA requirements. Published hourly prices are accurate for the hour they describe; they aren’t an estimate of your total cost.

We also can’t guarantee that a specific instructor or a specific aircraft will be available on a given day.

Limitation of liability

The website is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DIVA Flight School Sacramento LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website, and our total liability for any claim relating to the website is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question.

Nothing in this section limits any liability that can’t be limited under California law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California, and you and we both consent to that venue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version and its effective date are always on this page, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version. For significant changes, we’ll add a notice on the site. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones in effect on the day you bought.
